I Hate Buying Second Hand Items That Smell of Cigarette Smoke
Especially if they are expensive.
I bought something recently listed as 'immaculate' so I didn't think twice as to how it would smell. It arrived and straight away I could smell the cigarette smoke. All things considered it was quite faint, but it did mean that I had to spend time - an hour or so - trying to clean this unit up.
It's very frustrating as the soft parts - rubber, unfinished wood, electronic components - are almost impossible to remove the smell from. Perhaps it will fade with time but I'm very sensitive to smells and I notice it as soon as I enter the room.
Worse, in trying to clean a foam component it split, so that will complicate a potential return. I've owned a similar unit from new so I can swap that part over so the return is 'as received' but it then starts a domino effect of inconvenience.
Makes me want to just buy new stuff to remove any risk of inconvenience or frustration.
