A Million Things I Hate

I Hate That I Deleted My Old Blog

Over ten years ago now I started a blog for the same purpose as this one, ranting about trivial things that annoy me. This was before I had a 'real' job. I was aware that I needed to move forwards in my career and I thought writing a blog would give me some writing talent and perhaps get me noticed.

It was initially on Wordpress but I moved it to Blogspot so that if traffic ever picked up it would become easier to monetise. I had big visions!

In 2014 I changed career and for some reason became fearful that someone would find out about my blog. It didn't contain anything controversial but it the idea of someone I know reading my post still embarrasses me now, plus I thought it might count as a 'second job' and cause other issues.

I'm still quite fond of some of the posts that I made which included 'I Hate iTunes', 'I Hate Badly Made Posters', 'I Hate Music Videos' and a couple of hundred other deeply insightful essays. Some of them even got comments!

I never kept a backup of my work. I tried to release myself from the desire to 'live in the past' and maintain backups of things that only I care about and the blog was lost with that, however, a backup of some pages does remain on the Internet Archive. There is a lot that I forgot I wrote and a lot that hasn't aged well, mainly because the Internet was very different back then. Remember Onswipe? Probably not as it sucked, and I really hated it back then, but it doesn't appear to even exist now so my criticisms are all suddenly worthless to read.

Perhaps one day I will link to the IA link or repost some old articles.
